Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 design
Boasting a 6.53 inch IPS LCD capacitive screen, the 1080 x 2340p with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection screen offers massive viewing acreage with a screen to body ratio of 84.9%. The glass sandwiches a hardened plastic frame, measuring 8.8mm thick and weighing about 200g. The front design offers a teardrop camera module and about 500 nits of brightness, good enough even for the bright outdoors. Except for a small chin at the bottom, the screen is pretty much bezel-less. The phone has a bottom-firing speaker, USB-C charging, and a 3,5mm jack at the bottom.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with the new Mediatek Helio G90T chipset, paired with the octa-core Cortex CPU, revving up to 2GHz, and a Mali G76 MC4 GPU. The memory configuration is either 6 or 8GB for the RAM and 64, 128, or 256 GB for the ROM. It also has a shared sim slot for microSD internal memory expansion. The memory is supported by UFS 2.1 mass storage. This configuration is fast enough for everyday use and a great combination for the 64mp camera.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 64mp wide primary camera, coupled with an 8mp ultra-wide lens, a 2mp macro sensor, and a 2mp depth shooter. The photos are great, sharp, and rich in color. The video capabilities include shooting 2k video at 30fps, 1080p at 30/60/120fps and 720p at 960fps. It comes supported with gyro electronic image stabilization. The front-facing camera is a 20mp shooter, capable of HDR and panorama, shooting 1080 video at 30fps. The selfies are accurate and the edge detection in portrait and bokeh is very decent.
Out of the box, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro ships with Android 9 Pie, upgradable to Android 10.0, with MIUI 11 custom skin slapped on top. The experience is smooth with little lag, largely on a redesign that makes it lighter and looks newer, adding even an app drawer while at it. The skin has much less bloatware and a more useful app, making it a breeze for the repeat Xiaomi user and not so cringe for a first-time MIUI user.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a non-removable 4500 mAh Li-Po battery, which easily lasts the day even for a power user. Bundled in is the 18W fast charging that charges the phone in about 2 hours. There is no fast charging here but that’s hardly a surprise in this midrange category. The endurance race for this battery currently stands at 114 hours. Have a look at Redmi Note 9 smartphone.
Overall, this a great mid-range offering.it supports NFC, has an IR blaster, and standby dual sim. There is, of course, no IP rating for dust or water resistance. It comes in Black, Red, White, Deep Sea Blue, Midnight Blue, Electric Blue, and Twilight Orange. For its price, this phone is truly worth every penny.
