Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus is a very unique device, centering their focus on content consumption while letting go of their obsession with the camera must have been a very bold step to take. It is not every day you find an AMOLED screen with a massive 6,000 mAh battery but with just one camera lens. That brings the focus to the front of the device, and ho comfortably content can be consumed. Let’s see the compromises and additions that it took to make this device.

Display and design Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus comes with a very tall 6.35 inch AMOLED screen with an infinity u design to house the front-facing camera. Admittedly, this is one of the few Tecno devices to sport an AMOLED screen so this should a telltale that it is intended to great for consuming content on the 82.3% screen to body ratio panel. The bezels are narrow enough but the chin is a little overstated. The build is plastic, and it has a small single camera module at the back and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. We keep the earphone jack but are pleasantly elated to see the USB-C at the bottom, a great addition.
Performance and storage
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus comes with a more powerful entry-level chipset. The Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 processor, coupled with an octa-core 2.o GHz Cortex A53 CPU and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. We have very generous RAM at 6GB and 64GB of on-board memory storage, in addition to a dedicated microSDXC slot for that additional expandable memory.
This combination delivers a solid performance that doesn’t flinch on a day to day usage while putting up a fair fight in intensive tasks, albeit it might falter every so often when processing graphics. This is enough processing for budget level computation and many would find this kind of power sufficient.
Camera
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus is modeled as a powerful device so the cameras are not really the point of focus. On that note, it only comes with one camera sensor, the 32mp wide lens, which works great even without the support of other sensors. The photos are usable, decent, and well exposed in optimal lighting conditions. It might struggle to reproduce portrait and bokeh photos, but one can see the effort in edge detection and distance variance.
It can also record HD video at 30fps, though with little or no stability, so a stand would truly suffice. The selfie camera is equally competent with a single 13mp wide-angle sensor, good for decent selfies, especially in good lighting, capable also of HD video at 30fps, with HDR support. Battery
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus truly shines when it comes to the battery. The 6000 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery is the biggest yet in the whole of Tecno, and that is impressive. This is a 2 day plus battery even for a power user. Making a great case for continuous content consumption, browsing, and listening to music. Although we finally get a type C connection, there is no evidence of fast charging, which is a little disappointing. The battery may, therefore, take up to 4 hours to charge if we have to use 10W standard charging.
Software
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus comes with HIOS 5.0 based on Android 9 Pie, upgradable to Android 10 later on. We have still got the bloatware highly associated with other Tecno devices, usually numerous unnecessary preinstalled apps and ad services that seem to run off the system irrespective of whatever app you might be using presently. It not optimal, but the option to add themes adds a little party to the UI. Most of the bloatware can be uninstalled or toggled off but then, not having it in the first place would have been a joy. The UI is still fast and intuitive, and once one gets over the displeasure of the bloatware, it is seemingly easy to use and straight forward.
Final remarks
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus is a great device all around, especially considering it’s a Tecno offering. The AMOLED screen, the massive battery, and the fast SoC make a great case. This for a person who is willing to overlook the cameras in exchange for a great content consumption experience. It might be one of the more interesting offerings after all.
