Display and design
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite comes with a 10.4 inch PLS TFT capacitive screen. It is a flat slab of glass with uniform bezels all around, with an aspect of 15:9 and an 81.6% screen to body ratio. The screen is bright even for the outdoors, but like many other LCD screen, it might look a bit washed-out especially in well-exposed areas. It has single selfie camera and another one on the back. This tablet has a type C connector and gladly, ahead jack port. It comes with a stylus pen, known as the S-Pen, which latches to the side via a magnet.
Performance
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite comes with the in-house midrange Exynos 9611 chipset, combining with a 2.3GHz octa-core Cortex A73/A53 CPU and a Mali G72 MP3 GPU. The internal memory configuration is a 4GB for the RAM and 64/128GB ROM, with a dedicated microSDXC card slot, capable of expanding the internal Emory by an extra 512 GB. The performance in this device should be good enough for day to day use and other intensive tasks. Be sure to also check out Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0.
Camera
Tablets are not really known for their cameras and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is no different. It has a single 8mp camera, for random day to day usage, but not one to be rated as a wide use camera. The photos should be usable but not great. It can still Full HD at 30fps. Upfront, it has a decent 5mp wide selfie camera, which shouldn’t be great either, but comes in handy for those video calls that tablets are so much in use for. It can shoot 1080p video at 30fps. Battery
Due to its significantly huge size, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite comes with a 7040 mAh non removable Li-Po battery, which should offer pretty much a few days of juice on average use, making it extremely portable. In addition, we get up to 15W type C fast charging to keep the huge battery powered up. However, considering the size of the battery, it would still take hours to fill up. Faster fast charging should have been considered. It has a magnetic strip on the side to reverse charge and dock the accompanying S-Pen.
Software
Straight out of the box, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite comes with Android 10.0 with One UI 2. Bundled with the powerful SoC, reduced bloatware and a redesigned UI, the OS runs like a breeze. The multitasking is great, with faster app loading and RAM management. You might get a few pre-loaded apps with the UI but its thankfully nothing you can’t delete.
The One UI however doesn’t feel like it is optimized for the Tablet, but more like a ‘big smartphone’, unlike the iPad which has its own OS optimized separate from the iPhone. Still, S-Pen support may be something you are looking especially if you are an artist and there are a ton off apps available to explore this particular functionality.
Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Is certainly a welcome option from other Samsung tablet offerings as it comes at a much lower entry price. If offers the same screen acreage, a huge battery and the same Samsung UI experience, especially with the S-Pen. The pen’s intuitiveness and capability might be a huge factor in considering this particular tablet in comparison with the competition.
