Based on the previous series of Samsung A devices, Samsung really did reinvent the wheel coming out with an even better budget midrange device that continued to rally up a new found position as a formidable force among the midranges. Among the devices announced is the Samsung Galaxy A30s, a better and better version of the Samsung Galaxy A30, its predecessor. Here is why.
Screen and design of the Samsung Galaxy A30s
The Samsung Galaxy A30s comes with the 6.4 inches super AMOLED touchscreen with the infinity V display design to accommodate the front-facing camera module. The glass front comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, as it blends into the plastic frame and onwards to the plastic back. The back hosts the triple camera set up, aligned to the top left corner. The lack of a back fingerprint scanner is because this device boats the under-display fingerprint scanner, in addition to the FaceID security biometrics face unlocking feature. The screens PPI density is 298 with the brightness maxing out at 400 nits. At the bottom of the phone lies a downward-firing speaker, the USB-C charging port and the now elusive 3.5mm headphone jack. It weighs in at 169g and is 7.8mm thick.
Performance
The Samsung Galaxy A30s comes with Samsung’s own in-house chipset, the midrange Exynos 7904 14nm chipset, flagged by an octacore 1.8GHz Cortex A73/A53 CPU combo and a Mali G71 MP2 GPU. The memory configuration choices are 3/4GB for RAM bad 32/64/128GB for ROM, with a dedicated microSDXC card slot capable of expanding y an extra 1T. this performance is more than enough for the above-average user, taking on intensive tasks such as games with ease. The experience is fast and snappy, with almost no lag expected.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy A30s comes with a camera configuration almost similar to the Samsung Galaxy A50 that came before it. Its primary sensor is a 25mp 27mm wide lens, flanked by an 8mp 13mm ultra-wide shooter and a 5mp depth sensor. The photos are greatly improved, with more sharpness in detail and better light control. The portrait and bokeh capabilities are impressive with edge detection and distance variance being well executed. It shoots full HD video at 30fps, with support for HDR and Panorama. The front-facing single shooter is a 16mp 26mm sensor. Albeit average, it is still very formidable, making cool, clear and well-balanced shots, with full HD video coming in at 30fps.
Battery
The Samsung Galaxy A30s comes with the midrange standard non-removable Li-Po 4000mAh battery. This has been seen to be very capable to last the whole day even for the power user, with some juice to spare. Over and above that, the Samsung Galaxy A30s supports up to 15W fast charging, which charges the phone in a little over 2hours. The battery endurance stands at 102 hours.
Software
Straight out of the box, the Samsung Galaxy A30s comes with Android 9 Pie with Samsung’s custom One UI slapped on top. It is slated. so Android 10.0 with One UI 2 so that shouldn’t be a problem. The One UI is new and improved, faster and lighter, with a more modern feel to it. The Samsung ecosystem is also a joy to use, packing in some useful apps that heighten an improved experience, without necessarily overwhelming it with unnecessary bloatware. It is truly worth checking out.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A30s is a great midrange with a great price. It serves the needs of pretty much any kind of midrange user without any significant sacrifices.
