Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus in Kenya
Just like the Samsung Galaxy S flagship launches of yesteryears, this year’s launch couldn’t miss the bigger brother, the plus model, from the lineup. And for what it’s worth, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus really did come out as the more balanced, well spec’d, and value king in the list of Samsung Galaxy S devices launched while at the same time taunted as one of the most powerful devices in the market right now. The question is how. Let’s find out. Buy the latest Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus from Phonesstore.
Design and display of Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus
Compared to last year’s S10 Plus, this year’s Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is truly a huge upgrade. Off the face of it, it comes with the new 6.7 inches 2x dynamic AMOLED screen with the Infinity O middle punch-out display design to house the selfie camera. And the screen is no joke. It supports the new up to 120Hz refresh rate, a 240 Hz touch sampling rate, FHD+, QHD+, and HDR 10+. It blends into the aluminum frame onto the glass back, both Corning Gorilla 6 protected. There lies the conspicuous rectangular camera bump with a quad-camera setup. It has an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor in addition to the face unlock biometrics. The screen is great for media consumption, being the best screen available in the market.

Performance and Storage
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus comes with the new flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 for the US version or the Exynos 990 chipset for the global versions. The CPUs are an octa-core up to 2.73 GHz Mongoose M5 + Cortex A76 + A55 hybrid for global or an octa-core up to 2.85 GHz Kyro 585s for the US. The GPU is the new Mali G77 MP11 for global or Adreno 650 for the US.
It is paired with a memory configuration of 12 GB for RAM and 128/256/512 GB for UFS 3.0 mass storage, with a hybrid microSDXC card, a slot it shares with the sim card. This is absolutely the top-of-the-range specification, and it is faster than the wind. There is absolutely no task, even a high refresh rate graphics-intensive game out there that can outdo this beast, an absolute and true flagship.
Camera
All the phones in the S lineup came with different camera specs, and the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is no different. Its primary camera is a 12mp26mm wide lens, paired with a 64mp 3x hybrid optical zoom telephoto, a 12mp ultrawide with Super Steady Video, and a small VGA 0.3m Time of Flight depth sensor. The photos are absolutely and expectedly bananas. It’s actually more camera that most need, honestly. It has a very realistic color, great dynamic range, and very good detail.
The 64mp shooter supports 5x hybrid zoom all the way to 30x, although optical zoom is up to 3x. The camera can shoot in 8k, but that’s largely impractical considering there are very few screens one can watch that particular content. Therefore, 4k is preferable, recording at 30fps. the front-facing camera is a single 10mp 26mm wide, which supports dual video call and 2160p video recording at 30/60fps
Battery
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is absolutely a powerful device. Expectedly, they improved the battery to a 4500 mAh non-removable battery, enough to last the whole day, even when the draining 120 Hz display is cranked all the way up. Over and above, it comes with 25W fast charging with a brick in the box, capable of filling the battery in a little over 1 hour 10mins, which is impressive considering the capacity. It also comes with Qi-certified 15W fast wireless charging and 9W reverse wireless charging.
Software
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus comes with the improved Android 10-based One UI 2.1, with some bells and whistles. While the bloatware is visibly reduced with UI improvements all over the years, the Samsung ecosystem has clearly diversified, with some good productive apps therein. We have a system-wide dark mode, Music Share to pool Bluetooth devices with one output, Quick share which is their response to Apple’s Airdrop, improved Samsung Dex, Samsung Daily to replace Bixby, and much more. The experience is nonetheless smooth and fluid, nothing unexpected from such a flagship.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is clearly a well-balanced phone. It lies smack between the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, getting a good balance from the others, and offering a better value proposition than its brothers. With Samsung Pay, an IP68 rating for water and dust proofing, and some models coming with 5G support, this is absolutely a future-proof phone, with software supports going years into the future. This is a true 2020 flagship.
