Tecno Spark 8 Pro was launched in December 2021. It is priced in Kenya is Ksh 21,000, running on the MediaTek Helio G85 (12nm) processor with Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. The phone has 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage which is expandable using microSDXC (dedicated slot). The Tecno Spark 8 Pro has a 6.8 inches, 1080 x 2460 pixels IPS display with a pixel density of 395 PPI. Coming to cameras, it has a 48 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera for selfies. It has a USB Type-C port for data syncing and charging. There is a fingerprint sensor present on the Spark 8 Pro as well, along with a proximity sensor and accelerometer sensor. It is a dual SIM smartphone with support for 4G LTE, USB OTG, FM Radio, Bluetooth, and GPS too. The Spark 8 Pro runs on Android 11 and all this is powered by a 5000 mAh battery.

Design

The Tecno Spark 8 Pro comes with a 6.8-inch IPS LCD screen with a punch hole notch for the selfie camera. It’s a massive screen, hardly a one-handed operation, with a screen-to-body ratio of 84.6%. It has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and supports HDR which makes it an absolute delight to consume media with. This one has a plastic frame and back and a scratch-resistant front panel. It is very bright and vivid, peaking at 500 nits. The phone has a headphone jack, fortunately. It has a physical fast fingerprint sensor, conveniently placed on its side, integrated into the power button. It has a mono speaker whose sound is surprisingly clear when playing media.

Performance

The Tecno Spark 8 Pro brings in the heat with the latest generation budget Mediatek Helio G85 chipset, making it quite fast and fairly competent for gaming. It has a Cortex Octa-core CPU paired with a Mali G52 MC2 GPU, with storage options of 4/6 GB for RAM & 64/128 GB for ROM. It has an expandable memory option with a dedicated slot. It’s running the latest Android 11 with a HIOS 7.6 skin on top, the performance feels quite fast and premium. HIOS is rich in customizations, numerous themes, and alterations. No lags or slow transitions on this one. Everything feels snappy, fluid, and rich in color.

Cameras

The Tecno Spark 8 Pro has a triple camera arrangement on the back. It comes with a decent 48 MP primary sensor for those excellent daylight photos. It has no ultra-wide but an extra 2MP depth lens for those nice, close-up photos and a VGA telephoto. The video can support up to 1080p video at 30 fps, with HDR support. The selfie camera is a generous 8MP wide sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30fps. The selfies are great and well-lit.

Other features

We can’t fail to mention the charging speeds in the Tecno Spark 8 Pro. At 33W fast charging, the phone can get fully charged in about a little over one hour. That’s passable by all standards. That is in addition to the fact that it also comes with a massive Li-Po 5000mAh non-removable battery. This should be more than enough even for the power. In this case, it’s a little obvious that is no wireless charging here.
