The Samsung Galaxy S21 Fan Edition 5G is the king of the midranges, with flagship features but never really the bleeding edge, with top of its class super AMOLED 120Hz screen, a triple camera arrangement, 25W fast charging & wireless charging, a huge battery at 4500mAh and the latest 888 Snapdragon chipset. It ticks pretty much every box, and then some. Add 5G to the mix and this phone is nothing but a beast! If anything, it’s a little higher than a midrange, but not the price of a flagship, which is a wonderful compromise!
Design
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G comes with a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 120Hz screen with a center punch-hole design for the selfie camera. It’s a massive screen, hardly a one-handed operation, with a screen-to-body ratio of 85.3%. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz refresh rate, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and supports HD10+ which makes it an absolute delight to consume media with. It has an aluminum frame, a plastic back, and a Corning Gorilla Victus front panel.

This display is very bright and vivid, peaking at 1000 nits. It’s rated for IP68 dust and splash protection, making it waterproof in 1.5m for 30mins. unfortunately, it loses the headphone jack, just like it has been conspicuously missing from other phones in this range. It has a Kyro Octa-core CPU paired with an Adreno 660 GPU, or Mali-G78 MP14 for the 2nd version, with storage options of 6 or 8 GB for RAM & 64/128/256 GB for ROM. It does not offer an expandable memory option.
Paired with the 120Hz screen, running the latest Android 12 with One UI 4 skin on top, the performance feels very fast and premium. One UI 4 is rich in customizations, supporting numerous always-on screen animations and true blacks. That is in addition to native Samsung apps and what’s good in the Samsung ecosystem. Everything feels fast, fluid, and rich in color.
Cameras
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G has a triple camera arrangement on the back. It comes with a decent 12 MP primary sensor, for those excellent daylight photos. The ultra-wide is a 12MP lens, with a 123˚field of view, giving it great immersion for those landscape or group photos. There is an extra 8MP macro telephoto lens for those nice, close-up photos with X3 optical zoom. The video can support up to 4K video at 30 fps, with HDR supports & gyro-EIS stability assistance. It can also record 4k video at 60 fps with gyro-EIS. The selfie camera is a generous 32MP wide sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30fps. The selfies are great and well-lit.
Other features
We can’t fail to mention the charging speeds in the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G. At 25W fast charging, the phone can get to 50% in about 30 min. in addition it gets 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. That’s impressive by all standards. That is in addition to the fact that it also comes with a Li-Po 4500mAh non-removable battery. Even with the high refresh rate screen, this should be more than enough. It supports NFC for contactless Samsung Pay. The device beats pretty much any other device in the midrange sector.
