Realme C33
The Realme C33 is a new midrange, with a great value proposition. It packs a fast entry level Unisoc Tiger T612 chipset, a huge 6.5-inch LCD screen, a great 50MP primary camera, a huge 5000 mAh battery, 15W fast charging and a side mounted fingerprint scanner. At its price, it’s truly a great bargain.
Design
The Realme C33 comes with a 6.5-inch LCD screen with a dew drop design for the selfie camera. It has a screen to body ratio of 82.1% and quite bright and vivid, peaking at 400 nits with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and supports HD10+ which makes it an absolute delight to consume media with. It has a plastic frame and back, and a Panda Glass front panel. Fortunately, it sports a headphone jack. It has a physical fast fingerprint sensor, conveniently placed on the side within the power button. It has a downward firing speaker, which are great for playing media.
Performance
The Realme C33 comes with the entry level Unisoc Tiger T612 4G chipset, making it very fast and decent for gaming. It has a Cortex Octa-core CPU paired with a Mali G57 GPU, with storage options of 3/4/6 GB for RAM & 32/64/128 GB for ROM. It also comes with a dedicated expandable memory option, which is a plus. Running the latest Android 12 with a Realme UI S skin on top, the performance feels very fast and premium. No lags or slow transitions on this one. Everything feels fast, fluid and rich in colour.
Cameras
The Realme C33 has a dual camera arrangement on the back. It comes with a huge 50 MP wide primary sensor, for those excellent daylight photos. There is an extra VGA (0.3MP) depth sensor to add bokeh or portrait effect on the photos. The video can support 1080p video at 30 fps, with HDR support & gyro-EIS stability assistance. The selfie camera is a decent 5MP wide sensor, capable of 720p video at 30fps. The selfies are great and well lit.
Other features
The Realme C33 has no fast charging, so it peaks at 15W, getting the phone to fully charged in about an hour. That’s fairly usable. That in addition to the fact that it also comes with a Li-Po 5000mAh non-removable battery, which is rather generous. Even with a power user, this should be more than enough. Of course, there is no wireless charging here nor NFC for contactless paying. It comes in Glowing Black and Glowing Green.
Similarly, priced phones would include Tecno Pova Neo, Nokia G21, the Oppo A16K and Realme C25Y. the main distinctions at this price point is often a choice of better camera or more memory. The sizes are usually standard, and the batteries are often huge. It’s unlikely there are fast charging options as the price is too competitive.
The design is great, especially the back panels and camera nodes which gives great aesthetics. The OS will feel right at home, especially if you have used a Xiaomi phone before.
