The recommended retail price for Poco M4 Pro 5G in Kenya is 26,500 shillings. Poco M4 Pro 5G comes with a 6.6 inches IPS LCD featuring a best-in-a-class pixel density of 399ppi and a 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. The bezel-less display of the device also gets an aspect ratio of 20:9 and has a punch hole located at the center top holding a selfie shooting lens.
The Poco M4 Pro 5G is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 810 MT6833 chipset and 4GB RAM. Its Octa-core processor consisting of a Cortex A76 and a Cortex A55 layout can perform with a maximum speed of 2.4GHz. The brand has also installed a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU to cover up the graphical requirements. The smartphone is powered by a 5000mAh Li-Polymer battery which cannot be removed. The battery is also compatible with a 33W Fast Charging system.
Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G
The Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G is a new midrange, with a great value proposition. It packs a very fast MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chipset, a huge 6.6-inch LCD 90Hz screen, a great 50MP camera, a huge 5000 mAh battery, 18W fast charging, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. At its price, it’s truly worth the hype.
Design
The Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G comes with a 6.6-inch LCD screen with a punch-hole design for the selfie camera. It’s a massive screen, hardly a one-handed operation, with a screen-to-body ratio of 84.8%. It has a refresh rate of 90Hz refresh rate, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and supports HD10+ which makes it an absolute delight to consume media with. It has a plastic frame and back, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 front panel. It is quite bright and vivid, peaking at 450 nits. It’s rated for IP53 dust and splash protection, which means it’s not waterproof. Like many Xiaomi Redmi phones, it comes with an IR blaster and, fortunately, a headphone jack. It has a physical fast fingerprint sensor, conveniently placed on its side, integrated into the power button. It supports stereo speakers, which are great for playing with media.
Performance
The Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G brings in the heat with the midrange MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chipset, making it very fast and great for gaming. It has a Cortex Octa-core CPU paired with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, with storage options of 4/6 GB for RAM & 64 or 128 GB for ROM. It however does not come with an expandable memory option, which shouldn’t be a problem. Paired with the 90Hz screen, running the latest Android 11 with an MIUI 12.5 skin on top, the performance feels very fast and premium. No lags or slow transitions on this one. Everything feels fast, fluid, and rich in color.
Cameras
The Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G has a dual-camera arrangement on the back, which is the fewest we have seen on a Redmi Note for a while, though the space for more is still there. It comes with a huge 50 MP primary sensor, for those excellent daylight photos. The ultra-wide is an 8MP lens, with a 120˚field of view, giving it great immersion for those landscape or group photos. The video can support up to 1080p video at 30 fps, with HDR support & gyro-EIS stability assistance. The selfie camera is a generous 16MP wide sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30fps. The selfies are great and well-lit.
Other features
We can’t fail to mention the charging speeds in the Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G. At 33W fast charging, the phone can get fully charged in about an hour. It does not support reverse charging though, unlike its peers. That is in addition to the fact that it also comes with a Li-Po 5000mAh non-removable battery, which is rather generous. Even with the high refresh rate screen, this should be more than enough. The main concession would be that there is no wireless charging here. It supports NFC for contactless paying. It comes in Poco Yellow, Power Black, & Cool Blue
Similarly, priced phones would include the OnePlus Nord N20 5G, Oppo A96, Samsung Galaxy A52s, and Realme GT Master. the main talking points would be the battery and the cameras. Also despite it being an IPS LCD screen, it offers an experience similar to any midrange gadget at this price point.
Even for the price, it’s a great device. Superior design, huge immersive screen, and impressive camera systems. The IPS LCD screen might feel like a concession, but the price compensates for that.
