 Oppo Reno 8 4G Review

Oppo recently announced the new Reno line of smartphones including the Oppo Reno 8 Pro and the Oppo Reno 8 4G. These budget-friendly smartphones were released in 8th August of 2022 with the central focus being the fact you can fast charge them and take incredible videography at night.

In this review, we are going to discuss the features that make this phone stand out from its competitors such as One Plus and Realme.

Oppo Reno 8 4G: Chipset and Performance

The Oppo Reno 8 4G has a fast and efficient performance because it is powered by Snapdragon 680 4G chipset. This device comes with 8GB RAM and 256 GB of storage. This allows you to swiftly load the phone with multiple apps and they will run smoothly in the background without your phone lagging or crashing.

When it comes to Connectivity, the Oppo Reno 8 supports 2G, 3G, 4G, Bluetooth, and WI-FI. This means that the device is ready for the future. What we loved most in creativity is the dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) slot that has a rubber seal all over the device to prevent water and dust from penetrating.

The operating system of the Oppo Reno 8 4G is Android 12, ColorOS 12.1 giving you a fantastic experience while using the device. Oppo added air gestures to the Reno series allowing you to interact with the phone without touching the screen.

On top of that, you will get old gestures such as double tapping to wake the phone screen up, flipping the device to silence incoming calls, and a three-finger swipe to take screenshots.

Oppo Reno 8: Display and Design

The Oppo Reno series is famously known for its incredible designs. As a matter of fact, the main selling point of Oppo while advertising their devices is the attractive designs.

Oppo Reno 8 presents you with striking colours of cosmic black, sunset orange. The back panel shifts colours under sunlight making the device glow differently when you are outdoors.

This device has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The display allows you to select between vivid and natural presets, both of which give you superb colors. The screen is protected by a Gorilla Glass 5 making it difficult to break.

What’s cool about this device is that it hardly attracts fingerprints and specks of dust. Plus it has an IP54 rating which means that the phone is protected from dust and water resistance.

You are going to enjoy viewing content on your new device because the images displayed on the Reno 8 are detailed. The screen comes with a 90Hz refresh rate making the display effortless while gaming.

On the right side of Oppo Reno 8, you will find the power button and they placed the secondary microphone on the top side. At the bottom, you will find a SIM Slot, USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and primary microphone.

The headphone 3.5mm jack is the omission from the design built of the phone which is a bit disappointing. Overall this phone has been brilliantly designed with the end user in mind.

Oppo Reno 8: Battery Life

Reno 8 4G has a 4500mAh battery that can serve you for 2 days straight while operating it on maximum refresh rate – this includes streaming online, browsing different social platforms, and more. If you enable battery saver mode you will conserve the battery life even longer.

The phone comes with an 33 watts fast charger SuperVOOC charger that will charge your phone from 0 to 50% in 25 minutes without heating up. You find it efficient especially when you are on the go traveling. You will be thrilled to find out that this phone supports reverse charging

Oppo Reno 8: Camera Capabilities

The Oppo Reno 8 4G comes with a triple camera at the back with a 64 mega Pixel wide camera. The Sony IMX766 sensor on the main camera gives you lively and bright colours without oversaturation that you are likely to find in other mid-range phones.  The other two cameras are an 2 Megapixel microscope camera plus a 2 Megapixel depth camera.

If you love taking selfies, the front camera will make you happy, because the 32 Megapixel camera will take vibrant detailed pictures even in low light.
