Nothing has carved a niche by offering devices that are not just functional but also visually striking. The Nothing Phone 3a Pro, launched on March 4, 2025, continues this tradition with its signature transparent aesthetic, LED Glyph Interface, and a blend of powerful internals at an attractive mid-range price point. With a 6.77-inch AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, and a versatile 50MP triple-camera system, this device promises a flagship-like experience at a fraction of the price. But how does it hold up in real-world use?
Let’s dive deep into the Nothing Phone 3a Pro and see if it lives up to the hype.
Design and Build Quality – A Phone That Stands Out
A Signature Transparent Design
Nothing has mastered the art of minimalist, futuristic design, and the Phone 3a Pro is no exception. The phone features a semi-transparent back panel, allowing users to catch a glimpse of the internal components. Available in Black, White, and Milk, the design feels both modern and bold, perfect for users who appreciate something different from the sea of generic slabs.
Glyph Interface – More Than Just Aesthetic
The LED Glyph Interface on the back is not just for show—it serves a functional purpose. With 26 addressable zones, the Glyphs can be customized for different notifications, battery charging indicators, and even as a camera fill light. It’s a unique way to interact with your phone without constantly checking the screen.
Build and Durability
The device measures 163.5 x 77.5 x 8.4 mm and weighs 211g, making it solid but not unwieldy. While some might find it a bit heavy, the weight contributes to a premium feel. The phone also comes with an IP64 rating, making it dust-tight and resistant to water splashes. This level of protection ensures that the phone can handle light rain and occasional spills, though it’s not designed for full submersion.
Display Quality – A Visual Treat
Large AMOLED Panel with Stunning Colors
The 6.77-inch AMOLED display is one of the Phone 3a Pro’s standout features. It supports 1 billion colors, ensuring that images and videos look rich, vibrant, and lifelike. Whether you’re streaming movies, scrolling through social media, or gaming, the display delivers a high-end experience.
120Hz Refresh Rate – Smooth as Butter
A 120Hz refresh rate ensures buttery smooth scrolling and animations. Everything from browsing the web to playing fast-paced games feels incredibly fluid, making this a great choice for users who demand snappy performance.
Brightness and Outdoor Visibility
With a peak brightness of 3000 nits, the Phone 3a Pro remains visible even in direct sunlight. Whether you’re navigating in bright daylight or reading indoors, the display adapts well to different lighting conditions.
Protection – Built to Last
The screen is protected by Panda Glass, offering decent scratch resistance. While it won’t match the latest Gorilla Glass Victus, it provides sufficient durability for everyday use.
Performance and Software – Smooth and Efficient
Operating System – Clean and Feature-Packed
The Nothing Phone 3a Pro runs Android 15 with Nothing OS 3.1, offering a bloat-free, fast, and intuitive experience. Nothing OS is known for its minimalistic design, ensuring that the interface remains clean and snappy.
A major highlight is “Circle to Search”, which allows users to quickly search for content just by drawing a circle on the screen—an innovative feature for seamless multitasking.
Powerful Snapdragon Chipset
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 (4nm) processor, paired with an Adreno 710 GPU (940 MHz). This combination ensures smooth multitasking, efficient power management, and reliable performance across a wide range of applications.
Real-World Performance – Gaming and Daily Use
- Casual Usage: Scrolling, messaging, and app switching feel lag-free and responsive.
- Gaming: With an octa-core CPU (1×2.5 GHz Cortex-A720 & 3×2.4 GHz Cortex-A720 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A520) and Adreno 710 GPU, gaming performance is smooth with minimal frame drops. Games like Call of Duty Mobile and Genshin Impact run well on medium to high settings.
- RAM & Storage: Available in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants with 128GB or 256GB storage, it provides plenty of space for apps and media. However, the lack of expandable storage may be a downside for some users.
Camera Performance – Versatile and Feature-Packed
Rear Camera System – Triple Lens Versatility
The Nothing Phone 3a Pro features a triple-camera setup that delivers impressive photography:
- 50 MP (wide, f/1.9, OIS, PDAF) – Captures sharp and vibrant images with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for reduced motion blur.
- 50 MP (periscope telephoto, f/2.6, 3x optical zoom, PDAF, OIS) – Perfect for detailed zoom shots without quality loss.
- 8 MP (ultrawide, f/2.2, 120° FOV) – Great for landscape and group shots.
Selfie Camera – Perfect for Social Media
The 50 MP (wide, f/2.2) front camera captures sharp, detailed selfies with excellent color accuracy. HDR support helps balance exposure in bright conditions, while 1080p@30fps video recording ensures smooth video calls and vlogs.
Video Recording – 4K Capabilities
The rear camera supports 4K@30fps and 1080p@60/120fps video recording, with gyro-EIS ensuring stable, shake-free footage.
Battery and Charging – Long-Lasting and Fast
The 5000mAh battery ensures all-day usage, even for heavy users.
Charging Speeds
- 50W wired charging – Charges 50% in just 19 minutes and 100% in 56 minutes.
- No wireless charging, which might be disappointing for some.
