Nokia G60
The Nokia G60 is a new midrange, with a great value proposition, especially considering it is 5G ready. It packs a very fast Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, a huge 6.58-inch LCD 120Hz screen, a great 50MP camera, a huge 4500 mAh battery, 20W fast charging and an optical under display finger print scanner. At its price, it’s truly a great bargain.
Design
The Nokia G60 comes with a 6.58-inch 120Hz LCD screen with a dew drop design for the selfie camera. It’s comfortable to hold with the rounded edges, with a screen to body ratio of 82.8%. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz refresh rate, an aspect ratio of 20:9 and supports HD10+ which makes it an absolute delight to consume media with. It has a plastic frame and back, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 front panel. It is quite bright and vivid, peaking at 500 nits. Its rated for IP53 dust and splash protection, which means it’s not waterproof. It has a physical fast optical fingerprint sensor, conveniently placed under the screen. It supports headphone jack & stereo speakers, which are great for playing media.
Performance
The Nokia G60 comes with the midrange Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, making it very fast and great for gaming. It has a Kyro Octa-core 2.2 Ghz CPU paired with a Adreno 619 GPU, with storage options of 4 or 6 GB for RAM & 64 or 128 GB for ROM. It comes with an expandable memory option, supporting up to 128GB. Paired with the 120Hz screen, running the latest stock Android 12 , the performance feels very fast and premium. It also means it has minimal bloatwares and updates are always timely. Everything feels fast, fluid and rich in colour.
Cameras
The Nokia G60 has a triple camera arrangement on the back. It comes with a huge 50 MP primary sensor, for those excellent daylight photos. It also has a 2MP depth sensor for bokeh/portrait photos and 5MP ultra wide lens for landscape & group photos. The video can support up 1080p video at 30 fps, with HDR support & gyro-EIS stability assistance. The selfie camera is a decent 8MP wide sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30fps. The selfies are great and well lit.
Other features
The Nokia G60 comes with 20W fast charging, getting fully charged in about an hour. That’s fairly usable. That in addition to the fact that it also comes with a Li-Po 4500mAh non-removable battery, which is rather generous. Even with the high refresh rate screen, this should be more than enough. The main concession would be that there is no wireless charging here. It supports NFC for contactless paying. It comes in Black & Gray.
Similarly, priced phones would include Samsung Galaxy A23, Xiaomi Redmi Note 11s, the Oppo A16K, and Realme C25Y. the main distinction at this price point is often a choice of a better camera or more memory. The sizes are usually standard and the batteries are often huge. It’s unlikely there are wireless charging options as the price is too competitive. The design is great and looks at par with many midranges in the market now. The OS is great, being stock Android so it’s not burdened with the bloatware that comes with custom skins.
