Nokia G300 Overview

The Nokia G300 is a new budget phone, with a great value proposition. It packs an entry-level Snapdragon 480 chipset, an averagely sized 6.52-inch IPS LCD screen, a decent 16MP primary camera, a huge 4770 mAh battery, 18W fast charging, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. With the fast charging, it stands out against the rest of the entry-level budget devices.

The Nokia G300 Build

  • Design: IPS LCD
  • Display: 6.52 inches
  • Color: Meteor Grey

Design

The Nokia G300 comes with a 6.52-inch IPS LCD screen with a dew drop design for the selfie camera. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 77.3% and is quite bright and vivid, peaking at 400 nits with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, and supports HD+ which makes it fairly decent to consume media with. It has a plastic frame and back, and a shutter-proof front panel.

It comes with a radio and, fortunately, a headphone jack. It has a physical fast fingerprint sensor, conveniently placed on the side, conveniently housed in the power button. It has a downward-firing speaker, which is great for playing media.

The Nokia G300 Performance

  • Processor (CPU, GPU, RAM): Qualcomm SM4350 Snapdragon 480 5G
  • Storage: 64GB 4GB RAM
  • OS: Android 11

Performance

The Nokia G300 comes with the entry-level budget Snapdragon 480 5G chipset, making it quite fast and decent for gaming. It has a Cortex Octa-core 2.0GHz CPU paired with a Mali Adreno 619 GPU, with storage options of 4GB for RAM & 64GB for ROM.

It also comes with a dedicated expandable memory option, which is a plus. Running the latest stock Android 11, the performance feels very fast and premium. No lags or slow transitions on this one. Everything feels fast, fluid and rich in colour.

The Nokia G300 Cameras

  • Main Camera: 16 MP (wide), 5 MP (ultrawide lens) and 2MP depth lens
  • Front Camera: 8 MP
  • Video(Main/Front): 1080p@30fps

Camera system

The Nokia G300 has a triple camera arrangement on the back. It comes with a decent 16MP wide primary sensor, for those excellent daylight photos. There is an extra 2MP depth sensor to add a bokeh or portrait effect on the photos and a 5MP ultrawide lens for landscape and group photos.

The video can support 1080p video at 30 fps, with HDR support & gyro-EIS stability assistance. The selfie camera is a decent 8MP wide sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30fps. The selfies are great and well-lit.

The Nokia G300 Battery

  • Capacity: Li-Po 4470 mAh
  • Charging Speed: 18W wired

The Nokia G300 comes with basic 18W fast charging, which can get the phone fully charged in a little over an hour. That’s fairly usable. That is in addition to the fact that it also comes with a Li-Po 4470mAh non-removable battery, which is rather generous. Even with a power user, this should be more than enough to last past a day, considering it’s not a power device. Of course, there is no wireless charging here but it supports NFC for contactless paying. It comes in Meteor Grey.

Similarly, priced phones would include Tecno Pop 5 Pro, Infinix Smart 6, the Samsung A03, and Vivo Y11. the main distinctions at this price point are often a choice of a better camera or more memory. The sizes are usually standard and the batteries are often huge. It’s unlikely there are wireless charging options as the price is too competitive.

The design is great, in addition to the many cameras and decent fast charging, despite it having an entry-level chipset. The OS is stock android, which offers the least bloatware of all android skins. Unfortunately, it has no radio.
