Finnish smartphone maker Nokia announced the Nokia 1.4 smartphone in Kenya. The Nokia 1.4 is expected to be priced at 11,500 Kenya shillings for the 2GB + 32GB storage configuration but will also be available in 1GB + 16GB version. Interested customers can pick it up in Fjord, Charcoal, or Dusk color options.

Features

The Nokia 1.4 measures 168.7 x 76.1 x 9.1 (height x width x thickness) with a total weight of 205 grams. Coming to cameras, it has a quad 48 MP rear camera and a dual 16 MP front camera for selfies. This phone has a 6.85 inches, 1080 x 2460 pixels IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 392 PPI. It has a Type-C 1.0 port for data syncing and charging. There is a fingerprint sensor present on the Nokia 1.4. It is a dual SIM smartphone with support for 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and GPS too.

Launch

This phone, Nokia 1.4 was released in 2021, February 03. This phone has 166.4 x 76.7 x 8.7 mm dimensions and weighs about 178 grams. It is also a Single SIM (Nano-SIM) or Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) smartphone. On the front is a dewdrop display wherein the dual selfie camera lies. Its back panel has a single camera module on the right-hand side. As for the fingerprint scanner, the one on this phone is rear-mounted on the power button.

Nokia 1.4 comes in the colors Fjord, Charcoal, and/or Dusk. It makes use of the micro USB 2.0 connector and has a 3.5 mm jack. The phone also has Bluetooth version 4.2, A2DP, LE, and GPS with A-GPS. Network

The Nokia 1.4 smartphone supports four network technologies. These are GSM, HSPA, and LTE. HSPA extends and improves the performance of existing 3G mobile telecommunication networks using the WCDMA protocols. LTE  is a standard for wireless broadband communication for mobile devices and data terminals, based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA technologies.

Display

Now, let us take a look at the display this phone has to offer. Everyone loves a good display on a phone for obvious reasons. Namely, the display is the one part of a phone you will ever interact with. Nokia 1.4 has an okay display panel that measures 6.52 inches, 102.6 cm². It is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that supports 16M colors and multi-touch.

This display has a fair 720 x 1600pixels resolution and an equally fair 269 PPI density. As for the selfie camera, it is inside that hole punch on the top right corner. This phone’s build is plastic with a Glass front, plastic back, and a plastic frame.

Platform

A phone platform is the hardware/software environment for tablets, smartphones, and other portable devices. Nokia 1.4 runs on the Android 10 (planned upgrade to Android 11 (Go edition)) operating system. Android 10 is the tenth major release and the 17th version of the Android mobile operating system. Also powering Nokia 1.4 is a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A53, Qualcomm QM215 Snapdragon 215 (28 nm) chipset.

Under the hood, it also brings an Adreno 308 GPU. The Qualcomm Adreno 308 is an integrated graphics unit for smartphones and tablets that is used for mainstream SoCs of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425-series. Like the other Adreno 30x GPUs, the Adreno 308 most likely also features 24 ALUs (unified shaders). The Nokia 1.4 comes with 16GB 1GB RAM, or 32GB 2GB RAM, or 64GB 3GB RAM (all eMMC 5.1). Cameras

There are three cameras on Nokia 1.4. They are made up of a main 8 MP, (wide), AF, and a 2 MP, (macro). Its main feature is LED flash, HDR, and panorama and it can shoot video up to 720p@30fps with the main camera and also 720p@30fps with the selfie. The LED flash in a mobile phone is a constant light source for the screen. The selfie shooter is a single 5 MP shooter.
