There has been little debate that the Google Pixel 5A is inarguably one the best midrange phone to come out in 2021, despite the heavy competition from other more established brands, and it is easy to see why. It has the top-of-the-range new midrange Qualcomm SM7250 Snapdragon 765G 5G, an industry-leading camera set up, a smooth OLED screen, 5G ready & a huge 4680 mAh battery. Even as a midrange, it has clearly outrun most of the competitors in the market and gets to be priced fairly reasonably.

Google Pixel 5A comes with a smooth 6.34 inches OLED screen, which is almost bezel-less with a small punch hole on the left to accommodate the selfie camera, achieving a screen a body to screen ratio of 85.0%. It has a Gorilla Glass 3 protected front with a recycled aluminum frame and back. It supports HDR10+ making it such an awesome device to view content in. It is very bright and vivid. It’s rated for IP67 dust and water resistance, waterproof in the depth of 1m for 30 mins. Fortunately, it does have a headphone jack and a rear-placed physical mounted fingerprint sensor, which is amazingly fast. It supports stereo speakers, which is great for playing with media.

Google Pixel 5A comes with the capable midrange Qualcomm SM7250 Snapdragon 765G, which comes with 5G. It is coupled with an Octacore Kyro CPU and an Adreno 620 GPU. It has a 6GB RAM option and 128/256 GB ROM options but with no expandable memory option. It is running stock Android 11, upgradable to 12, which makes it one of the best Android experiences available anywhere. Performance feels very fast and optimized, with no unnecessary apps or bloatware. The Snapdragon is more than capable, giving a flagship experience but at a mid-range price. It also has so many applications that most other Android phones don’t have, which is a significant advantage.

Google Pixel 5A, just like other Pixels that came before it, is big on cameras, easily a contender for the best camera in its class. It has a box dual-camera arrangement, starting with the 12.2MP wide less and a 16MP 119˚ FOV ultrawide. The photos are easily some of the best in any phone, irrespective of lighting. The potential here is enormous. The video can support up to 4K video at 30/60 fps, with gyro EIS, OIS support. The selfie camera is a generous 8MP wide sensor, capable of up to 1080p video at 30fps with auto-HDR. The selfies are impressive and the best in the business.

Other features

The Google Pixel 5A is a truly impressive device, considering it is still a midrange. It has 18W fast charging, which gets the Li-Po 4680 mAh non-removable battery to 50% in 30 mins. The compromise here would be that it does not support wireless charging. Not to forget it’s 5G ready and supports NFC for contactless paying. But all in all, the Pixel series is famed for their outstanding stock Android experience and then some extra bells & whistles. It comes in Mostly Black
