iPhone 15 Plus Review

In September 2023, Apple held an event that launched the iPhone 15 series to the market. Tech enthusiasts in the market were eagerly waiting for the launch of the new phones by Apple. As they waited with excitement and anticipation we were all glad to see that Apple did not fail us a single bit. Because the joy and excitement that the iPhone 15 was absolutely worth the wait.

Join me today as I unveil the changes that Apple has introduced with the new iPhone 15 series. Today we will be particularly focusing on the Plus model. We will analyse any significate upgrades that the iPhone 15 Plus. Let us determine if this phone is worth the high price tag that it is assigned.

The iPhone 15 Plus’s main features include:

One thing that we noted is that last year, Apple did away with the mini iPhones. Instead, they replaced them with more expensive phone models. As a result, we saw the birth of the iPhone 14 Plus, this phone had a 6.7-inch display screen. The overall design material of the iPhone 14 Plus was a metallic and glass body. I was happy to see the iPhone 15 Plus following the same footsteps with even thinner bezels.

One thing that we were happy about was to see that Apple still maintained the design. One other notable difference that we see in the design is the pill-shaped aperture.  This was the transformation that Apple included coupled with the fact that the phone. iPhone 15 Plus comes with a dynamic Island that makes this model resemble last year’s Pro models. We were happy to see that the phone had been built with the same aluminum framework.

Apple also ensured that the Lightning port has been supplanted by a USB-C interface. When you look at the back of the phone you will see a rearglass that has a matte finish texture. Giving you a beautiful visual and enhancing your experience.

Display

Besides the functionality that you get with the Dynamic Island aperture display. It’s surprising how much the iPhone 15 Plus resembles the forerunner. Except for the fact that it comes with a ProMotion capability and an ever-present mode. Aside from that the iPhone 15 Plus comes with a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate.

The display also comes with a screen resolution of 2796×1290 pixels and a pixel density of 460 PPI. On the bright side, the iPhone 15 Plus boasts enhanced luminosity. The phone also flaunts a peak HDR brightness of 1600 nits and an outdoor brightness peak of up to 2000 nits.

We were happy to see that Apple included a dual camera on the back. This camera consists of a primary wide-angle lens and a secondary ultrawide lens. One main alternative is the inclusion of a 48MP primary camera, inherited from the Pro models. This upgraded primary camera captures 12MP images through pixel binning.

In low-light scenarios, the camera performance will make you happy. It’s important to note that the iPhone 15 Plus lacks the capability to capture photos in 48MP ProRaw mode. This is a feature reserved for the Pro models. Nevertheless, it offers a 2x sensor zoom on the primary camera. This feature has been denoted as “Optical-quality 2x telephoto,” delivering impressive portrait photographs. The ultrawide camera remains unaltered from the iPhone 14 Plus. This offers no major surprises.

Also, the selfie camera is the same as the one for last year. The phone comes with a 12-megapixel sensor that has features such as Portrait mode, Night mode, and 4K video recording at 60FPS.

You gotta love Apple for its continuous strategy. The way they differentiate regular and Plus models from the Pro versions is by using a slightly older chipset in the iPhone 15 Plus. It’s powered by the A16 Bionic chip, which was also in last year’s Pro models. This chip is still very capable and competitive with the latest ones from Qualcomm, Exynos, and MediaTek. (Although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 performs better in certain gaming tests.) There don’t appear to be any noticeable changes in the RAM or storage capacity.

The iPhone 15 Plus still has 6GB of RAM and comes in three storage options: 128GB, 256GB, and 512 GB. Apple recently unveiled iOS 17 at its annual conference, which brings several exciting new features to the iPhone. The iPhone 15 Plus benefits from this fresh mobile OS, arriving pre-equipped with iOS 17.

It also comes with a more efficient 4nm A16 Bionic chip. While Apple hasn’t given exact battery capacity details. One thing is certain, we can expect it to last as long as the previous version.

Charging

Even though the iPhone now uses USB-C, charging speed remains the same. Apple claims that you get a 50% charge in 30 minutes using a 20W fast charger. The iPhone 15 Plus adheres to USB 2.0 speeds, reserving the USB 3.0 standard for the Pro models. The phone still works with MagSafe and wireless charging, so you can use accessories that have been around since the iPhone 12 series came out.

Audio Quality

The iPhone 14 Plus received praise for its great audio quality and stereo setup. We are happy to inform you this trend continues with the iPhone 15 Plus. The larger size of the iPhone 15 Plus enhances the bass and sound quality, making the listening experience even better. The haptic feedback mechanism on this model continues to astound.
