Let us jump into this review to discuss the different features of the Realme C51 to see if it is worth your money, Then you can decide if you are purchasing this phone in the two color options that it comes in either Mint Green or Carbon Black.
Design and Display
Realme C51 weighs 186 g making it a perfect day-to-day use phone and the phone dimensions is 167.2 x 76.7 x 8 mm ensuring that it fits perfectly on your hands. The phone has been built with a plastic material that looks quite premium and on the front you will find a glass front that protects the huge display provided.
Realme ensures that you are going to enjoy a smooth and fluid visual experience with the Realme C51’s 6.74-inch IPS LCD display which has been designed with user satisfaction in mind. What we loved most is to see that the display comes with a 90Hz refresh rate that provides you with a smooth experience when using the phone. The phone display has a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels which means that images and videos will appear smoother and more responsive, making your gaming and scrolling experience more enjoyable. The display also has a peak brightness of 560 nits, so you can easily see it in bright sunlight.
Camera
While holding this device, I was able to see the dual camera system on the back of the Realme C51 which consists of a 50MP main camera and a 0.3MP depth sensor. After testing the main camera I was pleased by the quality of the images it took because when the environment was on well-lit conditions the main camera produced good images with clear details and vibrant colors. The depth sensor helps to create a bokeh effect in portrait mode photos. The main camera usually has an aperture of f/1.7, which allows me to take brighter photos because it captures light really well. At the same time, the phase detection autofocus ensured that i took photos that were sharp and in focus.
At the front, you get a 5MP selfie camera that comes in handy when taking good selfies images in good lighting conditions. However, one thing I noticed is that when my environment had low light the quality of photos was equally poor, and was struggling. The selfie camera has an aperture of f/2.2, which helps to reduce blur in selfies. At the end of the day for a smartphone that comes at this price range, you get a decent camera system that is well capable of taking good quality photos in well-lit conditions, but it may struggle in low-light conditions.
Performance
The Realme C51 is powered by the Unisoc Tiger T612 processor, this is a mid-range processor that we have seen in many other budget smartphones, the processor has an octa-core processor with two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. The processor is clocked at 1.8 GHz and is paired with 4GB of RAM which is the standard RAM that you can find in most affordable smartphones, the good thing is that it is capable of holding enough applications for your phone to run smoothly. The Realme C51 also has 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card which is perfect if the provided storage won’t be enough for you.
In terms of performance, the Realme C51 is capable of handling everyday tasks such as browsing the web, checking social media, and playing light games. However, it may struggle with more demanding tasks such as multitasking or gaming. In the same spirit of performing demanding tasks on your phone, the Realme C51 comes with a 5000 mAh non-removable battery that is accompanied by a 33W wired charger that can get your phone from 0-50% in 28 min. Overall, the Realme C51 has a decent performance for an affordable smartphone. It is capable of handling everyday tasks, but it may struggle with more demanding tasks.
Conclusion:
At the end of the day, the Realme C51 is a decent smartphone for a price range of Ksh 26,500. It offers you a good display with a powerful processor and a long-lasting 5000mAh battery which can provide up to two days of battery life on a single charge. Even though while testing this phone we realised that the camera performance is not the best, and it may struggle with more demanding tasks. Check out more Realme smartphones in Kenya
