Oppo A36
The Oppo A36 brings competitive prices with a refresh to the cheaper midrange phone segment, an excellent midrange performance device, with an 90Hz high refresh rate LCD screen, a primary 13MP camera, a huge battery at 5000mAh and a refreshed 680 Snapdragon chipset. It ticks pretty much every box, and then some. This phone is nothing but a great budget midrange device, with small concessions here and there to achieve this particular price point.
Design
The Oppo A36 comes with a 90Hz high refresh rate 6.56-inch IPS LCD screen with a left-aligned punch-hole design for the selfie camera. It’s a massive screen, hardly a one-handed operation, with a screen-to-body ratio of 83.1%. It has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and supports HD10 which makes it an absolute delight to consume media with. It has a plastic frame, a glass back and a Corning Gorilla Glass front panel. It is very bright and vivid, peaking at 600 nits. It’s not rated for dust and splash protection, but it has a water repellent coating for splash protection. Fortunately, it keeps the headphone jack. It has a physical fast side-mounted fingerprint sensor, conveniently placed within the power button, for safe unlock. It has a downward-firing speaker, which offers great sound when playing media.
Performance
The Oppo A36 brings in the heat with the latest generation midrange Qualcomm SM6225 Snapdragon 680 chipset, making it very fast and great even for gaming. It has a Kyro Octa-core CPU paired with an Adreno 610 GPU, with storage options of 8 GB for RAM & 256 GB for ROM. It also comes with a dedicated expandable memory option. Paired with the 90Hz screen, running the latest Android 11 with a ColorOS 11.1 skin on top, the performance feels very fast and premium. ColorOS is rich in customizations, supporting numerous always-on-screen animations. No lags or slow transitions on this one. Everything feels fast, fluid, and rich in color.
Cameras
The Oppo A36 has a dual-camera arrangement on the back, which is clearly an indication that the cameras are not their strongest forte, especially in the age where there are usually 3 lenses on the back. It comes with a decent 13 MP primary sensor, for those excellent daylight photos & a 2MP depth sensor for nice portrait shots. The video can support up to 1080p video at 30 fps, with HDR supports & gyro-EIS stability assistance. The selfie camera is a decent 8MP wide sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30fps. The selfies are great and well-lit.
Other features
We can’t fail to mention the charging speeds in the Oppo A36. Although it comes with USB type C, it, unfortunately, has no fast or wireless charging, only sticking to speeds of around 15W. That’s passable at this particular price range, considering it’s technically a budget midrange phone. That in addition to the fact that it also comes with a Li-Po 5000mAh non-removable battery. Even with the 90Hz screen, this should be more than enough. The other concession would be that there is no wireless charging either nor does it support NFC for contactless paying. Its comes in Black, & Blue
