Nokia C01 Plus

Nokia C01 takes us back to the original form factor for earlier day Smartphones with a plastic and compact build, huge bezels and chin, a 5MP camera, a 3000 mAh battery, and Android 11 Go edition. It plays well into the nostalgia of years past, with a promise of reliability and easy reparability. It also promises a great value proposition at the cheapest possible price, making it a great contender for a consumer looking for a budget device

Design

Nokia C01 Plus comes with a 5.45-inch IPS LCD screen with the old form factor of years past, with a generous notch, which houses the earpiece and selfie camera, and the chin, with big branding. This is a refresh of phones from a few ago. It’s not huge, so it can offer a fairly decent one-handed operation, with a screen-to-body ratio of 72.1%. It’s all plastic, frame and a removable back. It does not enjoy the trappings of face unlock or a fingerprint sensor, just like phones years back. It comes with a top-placed headphone jack and a single downward-firing speaker at the bottom. It supports an aspect ratio of 18:9.

Performance

Nokia C01 Plus comes with the budget Unisoc SC9863A, making it decently fast. It has a 1.6 GHz Octa-core CPU paired with IMG8322 GPU, with storage options of 1 or 2 GB for RAM & 16 GB for ROM. It also comes with an expandable memory option, which shares the slot with the SIM card. It is running the latest stock Android 11 Go edition, so it’s clearly not the fastest phone out there, but since Nokia runs stock android, it should be well optimized.

Cameras

Nokia C01 Plus has a single camera arrangement on the back, a single 5MP lens. That should tell that cameras are clearly not the priority here, but if need be, the photos here are decent and usable. If indeed a video is needed, it can manage a modest 720p at 30fps. The results should be anyone’s guess. In addition, we get a selfie camera too, with the same 5MP sensor. Video is also outputted at 720p at 30fps.

Other features

The Nokia C01 Plus is packaged as a very basic Smartphone at best. It retains the form factor of yesteryears, a micro-USB port, no fast charging insight, and a 3000 mAh removable battery. There are no bells and whistles here, but there is value as it is bound to be very competitively priced. Charging times should be about an hour to full charge. That shouldn’t be too bad, considering the Nokia C01 Plus is a low-power device, so it should be enough to last a day. It comes in blue and purple
