Within the run-away success that the entry range offering that the Samsung A series has become so popular for, lies another great gem, the Samsung Galaxy A20s, a great phone by all means. The Samsung Galaxy A20s is a nice mixed bag, offering a little of everything that Samsung entry-level devices have become famous for. Let’s take a tour.

Screen and design of the Samsung Galaxy A20s

The Samsung Galaxy A20s comes with a generous 6.5 inch IPS LCD Infinity U display with a cut out to accommodate the front-facing camera. It has a generous 81.9% body to screen ratio and a PPI density of 264. The glass front, with Corning Gorilla protection, warps back into a plastic middle frame into the hardened plastic back. Here you find the triple camera set up and a fingerprint scanner. The glossy plastic often used in these devices feels premium and could easily pass for glass to the untrained eye. The bezels are minimal though there is a small chin at the bottom of the screen. Closer, lies the downward-firing speaker, a USB-c charging port and a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy A20s comes with the entry-level Snapdragon 450, paired with the Cortex A53 which maxes out at 1.8GHz and an Adreno 506 GPU. It comes in different combinations, with 3/4 GB RAM and 32/64 option of internal storage. It also has a dedicatee MicroSD slot for expanding the internal memory to an extra 512GB. The SoC is impressively capable, which is why it is so popular with entry-level devices. It holds its fort like a champ, despite dropping a frame or two during gaming or other intensive tasks.

Camera

The triple camera design on the Samsung Galaxy A20s is a great addition. The primary camera is a 13mp wide-angle f1/8 aperture lens, paired with an ultra-wide 8mp lens and a dedicated 5mp depth sensor. Being an entry-level, this in where we start to see decent cameras on pretty much of the budget devices so this one manages to impress. The images are rich and subtly sharp, the edge detection on the portrait mode believable and the bokeh effect quite balanced. The photos might be noisy or grainy whenever the camera is exposed to either too much or little light, but a little fiddling with the camera can still get you the desired results. The cameras shoot 1080p video in 30fps, HDR and panorama support. The front-facing lens is an 8mp f/2.0 lens. The selfies are great and very usable. The shooter can also deliver 1080p video in 30fps.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy A20s comes with a decent 4000mAh non removable Li-Po battery, which has now become an industry standard, easily lasting even a power user for a whole day. Good thing we get fast charging on this device, with the brick in the box promising up to 15W Fast Charging, filling the device in a little over 2 hours. This bundled with clever battery management software should easily last you all day and then some.

Software

The Samsung Galaxy A20s comes with android 9 Pie straight out of the box, with Samsung’s One UI. The software feels smooth and has less bloatware as opposed to mist of the competition in this class. The device is also updatable to the more recent Android 10 in the follow-up software support that Samsung is so popular for. The bigger RAM makes much for a very stable and fluid experience.

The Samsung Galaxy A20s makes up for great design choice, swapping the pricier AMOLED screen to allow a triple camera set up and a bigger battery on an entry-level chip, delivering a very promising masterpiece. The device is 4G ready, with dual standby nano SIM and FaceID unlock. There are no ratings for dust or water-proofing.it comes in Black, Blue, Red and, Green
