Oppo K9x

The Oppo K9x brings competitive prices with a refresh to the midranges, excellent midrange performance device, with 90Hz LCD screen, a primary 64MP camera, 33W fast charging, a huge battery at 5000mAh, and a refreshed MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chipset. Add 5G to the fray and it rises to the echelons of the mid-range segment. It ticks pretty much every box, and then some. This phone is nothing but a powerhouse.

Design

The Oppo K9x comes with a 6.49-inch IPS LCD screen with a left-aligned punch-hole design for the selfie camera. It’s a massive screen, hardly a one-handed operation, with a screen-to-body ratio of 84.2%. It has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and supports HD10 which makes it an absolute delight to consume media with. It has a plastic frame, a glass back, and an Aluminosilicate glass-protected front panel.

It is very bright and vivid, peaking at 600 nits. It’s not rated for dust and splash protection, but it has a water-repellent coating for splash protection. Fortunately, it keeps the headphone jack. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, conveniently housed within the power button, for safe unlock. It has a downward-firing speaker, which offers great sound when playing media.

Performance

The Oppo K9x brings in the heat with the latest generation midrange MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chipset, making it very fast and great for gaming. It has a Cortex Octa-core CPU paired with a Mali G57 GPU, with storage options of 6 or 8 GB for RAM & 128 or 256 GB for ROM. It also comes with a dedicated expandable memory option.

Paired with the AMOLED screen, running the latest Android 11 with a ColorOS 11.1 skin on top, the performance feels very fast and premium. ColorOS is rich in customizations, supporting numerous always-on-screen animations. No lags or slow transitions on this one. Everything feels fast, fluid, and rich in color.

Cameras

The Oppo K9x has a triple camera arrangement on the back. It comes with a generous 64MP primary sensor, with 8 MP picture binning for those excellent daylight photos. There is a 2MP depth lens, giving it great immersion when it comes to portrait mode. There is an extra 2MP macro lens for those nice, close-up photos. The video can record 1080p video at 30 fps. The selfie camera is a generous 16MP wide sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30fps. The selfies are great and well-lit.

Other features

We can’t fail to mention the charging speeds in the Oppo K9x. At 33W fast charging, the phone can get to 50% in 27 mins. That’s passable by all standards. That is in addition to the fact that it also comes with a Li-Po 5000mAh non-removable battery. It’s also, interestingly, supports reverse charging. Even with the 90Hz LCD screen, this should be more than enough. The main concession would be that there is no wireless charging here. It does not support NFC for contactless paying. It comes in Black, and Blue
