Intro

Nokia had for long held the crown for well designed, practical, and long-lasting devices. And on the road to make a comeback, they have truly reinvented while rediscovering themselves and sought to dominate the mid-range segment. Launched in March 2020, the Nokia 5.3 comes with some very attractive features. So to balance it off for just the right price, we are curious to see the corners they cut. Here’s a closer look-see Nokia 7.3.

Design

The Nokia 5.3 comes with a 6.55 inch IPS LCD capacitive screen, with an Infinity U teardrop design to accommodate the front-facing camera. The 720p screen has an aspect ratio of 20:9, a screen to body ratio of 82.3%, and a PPI density of 268. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and an advertised brightness of 450 nits.

It has a hardened plastic frame to the back. Outback, has a circular quad camera set up the system in the middle of the back, just above the fingerprint scanner. It has a downward-firing speaker at the bottom, next to a USB-C connector and the elusive 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Performance

The Nokia 5.3 comes with Snapdragon 665 chipset, paired with an octa-core 2.0 GHz Kyro 260 CPU, and an Adreno 610 GPU. The memory configuration is 3/4/6GB for RAM and 64 GB for ROM, supported by eMMC 5.1, with a dedicated micro SDXC card expandable memory slot. This is a lot of raw power, capable of great mid-range performance. There is hardly any task one can through at such an SoC set up and get disappointed. Even if it’s a graphics-intensive gaming experience – see Nokia 6.1 Plus.

Nokia 5.3 camera

Nokia 5.3 comes with the quad-camera set up, flagged off by the 13 mp wide-angle primary camera. It is supported by a 5 mp ultra-wide lens, a 2 mp macro, and a 2mp depth sensor. The photos are decent, sharp, and detailed. The depth sensor helps with the bokeh, creating a believable distance variance.

The edge detection is usable in portrait mode, creating a nice blurry background. It can shoot 1080p video at 30fps. The front-facing selfie camera is a decent 8mp wide lens. The selfies are well detailed, clear, and rich in color. It supports HDR and can shoot 1080p video at 30fps.

Battery

Now, Nokia 5.3’s has a large 4000 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. Therefore, it can easily 2 last days for the average user, majorly because of the light software. Despite the USB type C, it still comes with standard 10W charging, which feels like an unnecessary compromise. Still, on usage performance, the battery is a champ, easily rivaling even large flagships. You may also like Nokia 6.2.

Software

Now, Nokia 5.3 comes with stock Android 10 based Android One on top straight out of the box. The stock android experience can’t be rivaled by any other custom UI from the competition. It is light, zero bloatware and on the front row to get updates almost immediately. They are available, which is something other OEMs can’t brag about. This makes the experience one of the most enjoyable and recommendable.

Conclusion

All said and done, the Nokia 5.3 is very much a true value king. This phone has stock Android UI, a nice camera set up, and a well-optimized chipset. Hence it is set apart from the many mid-ranges in this particular segment. Having no fast charging is not a bad compromise if you consider everything else.
