Huawei P9 lite
This is the lite version of Huawei P9 check The two are a same different phone. Here is an overview of the Huawei P9 lite. Let us see if there are any improvements, downgrades or additions from the original P9 version.
Design and build
So this is where we see the first difference. I will only focus on Huawei P9 lite though. It has full metal body build, a flat metallic back with a camera (not dual) on the top right corner, the camera comes with an LED flash. There is a fingerprint sensor below the camera and Huawei’s logo at the bottom back. A simple face with Huawei branding on the bottom bezel, a selfie camera, a sensor and an earpiece. It is a thin phone 7.0mm thick and is 146.8 mm tall. How compact it is will amaze you. It weighs 145 grams. Huawei have always been good with the designs of their phone, regardless of the end high or mid.
Soft and sharp colors, bright screen, good color saturation etc. are the terms I would use to describe the Full HD5.2 inches touch screen of the Huawei P9 lite. It is an IPS LCD touchscreen, 16M with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 (424 ppi pixel density) and has a screen to body ratio of 69.9%. This display does support multi touch too.
Unlike the Huawei P9, the Huawei P9 lite has only one primary camera. It is a 13MP f2.0 shooter with auto focus and an LED flash. The secondary/ selfie camera has a megapixel count of 8 with f/2.2. You will get decent pictures with both cameras but not to the quality of the Huawei P9. They do look fine though and sharp when they are supposed to.
With the camera also comes 1/3″ sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR.
Video recording comes in at 1080p@30fps.
Performance and memory
The Huawei P9 lite comes with HiSilicon Kirin 650 chipset, an Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and Mali-T830MP2 GPU for graphics. It comes running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) which is upgradable to 7.0 (Nougat). These specifications make the phone snappy and smooth running.
There are two versions of the Huawei P9 lite, both have 16GB internal memory but one runs on 2GB of RAM while the other on 3GB of RAM. Prices will differ with respect to this but really, both phones run just the same way.
Huawei P9 lite packs a 3000mAh battery. Given it has a small 5.2 inch display, this battery should last longer than your regular smartphone. It has an endurance rating of 79 hours which is a very good score. Expect a full day of usage here without need of reaching out for a charger. Huawei also does a good job with the battery life of their devices, it is something I have come to appreciate.
The speaker of the Huawei P9 lite is a bottom firing one. It is a pretty good one, respectable. But the best of sound you will get with headphones via the 3.5mm jack that gives 24-bit/192kHz audio.
There also is a dedicated mic for noise cancellation and support for Vibration; MP3, WAV ringtones alert types.
Connectivity and network
It is a Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by). GSM 2G, HSPA 3G and LTE 4G.
There is support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, A2DP, LE, NFC (L31, L21 only), the FM Radio is present and it comes with a microUSB 2.0.
I think the Huawei P9 lite really is a lite version of the Huawei P9. It was designed for those who love the Huawei P9 but somehow are on the lookout for a pocket friendly smartphone that works like it, or almost. The Huawei P9 lite will give you a light experience of her bigger and more powerful brother the P9 and with time one will just grow to love it for what it has to offer. I do recommend this phone, for its price and fairly great experience.
